Our Story
My Journey to Thrive.
Hi, I’m Rosie, founder of Thrive., based in Coleshill, North Warwickshire. My path to HR consultancy is anything but traditional, and it’s this unique experience that sets Thrive. apart. Over the years, I’ve worked across a wide range of industries and roles, gaining insights that allow me to deliver tailored, hands-on HR solutions for businesses just like yours.
Where It All Began: Hospitality & Operational Excellence
My career began in hospitality, where I worked as an operational supervisor and later as a manager, overseeing teams of hundreds of people. This hands-on experience with people management taught me the challenges leaders face daily—from motivating teams to resolving staff issues—all while maintaining exceptional standards.
During this time, I became deeply invested in staff development. I trained new team members and helped struggling sites raise their standards, holding a record-breaking 12 consecutive 100% mystery shopper scores. These achievements weren’t just luck—they were the result of building strong, motivated teams and focusing on practical, achievable improvements.
Understanding People Through Sociology
Driven by my passion for understanding people and workplace dynamics, I pursued a degree in Sociology. This academic foundation gave me a deeper appreciation of the societal and cultural factors that influence workplace behaviour. It also ignited my passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion—values I bring to every project today.
From Compliance to Rapid Growth in Small Business
My transition into compliance and HR came when I joined a regulated industry as an HR and Compliance Manager. Here, I supported a small business scaling from 12 to 55 employees in just 18 months.
Scaling a business at that pace comes with unique challenges—field-based staff, regulatory compliance, and growing pains. By implementing company-wide systems, I helped streamline processes, resolve employee challenges, and create a foundation for sustainable growth. This experience gave me a firsthand understanding of the pressures small business owners face when managing rapid change.
The Pivot to Employment Law Consultancy
Recognising that employment law was often the biggest pain point for business owners, I made the strategic decision to specialise in this area. Over the past eight years, I’ve traveled the country as an employment law consultant, working with hundreds of SMEs across industries like:
Retail and manufacturing: Supporting clothing manufacturers and big-name high-street suppliers.
Professional services: Accountancy firms, legal practices, and veterinary groups.
Healthcare and education: Care homes, dentists, schools, and early years providers.
Agriculture and hospitality: Farms, cafes, pubs, and restaurants.
This diversity gave me a deep appreciation for the common challenges business owners face—like managing compliance, resolving conflicts, and retaining top talent—while highlighting the unique dynamics of each industry. My approach was always practical: not just providing documents but partnering with owners to create strategies that balanced legal compliance with business needs.
Leadership & Cross-Sector Experience
I was later headhunted by a care company to serve as Deputy Company Director and HR Director. Here, I navigated the challenges of high-turnover industries, employee engagement, and maintaining regulatory standards under the watchful eye of the CQC. Balancing staff well-being with operational demands in this emotionally taxing environment taught me how to create solutions that benefit both the business and its people.
More recently, I’ve led HR and development for an NHS organisation, overseeing complex, system-wide people challenges. As a board member for a training organisation, I’ve supported the development of GPs, pharmacists, and non-clinical staff, and led dozens of Partners and Practice Managers through complex people management challenges, giving me a comprehensive understanding of workforce planning and training at scale.
Teaching, Learning, and Employment Law
Since 2019, I’ve assessed CIPD Level 3 and 5 qualifications, helping thousands of learners become HR professionals. This role keeps me at the forefront of industry standards, ensuring I bring the latest insights to my clients.
I’m also completing a Master’s in Employment Law and Practice, a subject I’m passionate about. Employment law isn’t just rules and regulations—it’s the framework that protects businesses and employees alike. I specialise in simplifying this complexity, turning legal jargon into actionable solutions
